The building concept was to produce a compact plan form over two storeys which comprises a front zone of school and community teaching and celebration spaces and a rear zone of more private teaching facilities. Both zones are based around two large open spaces. The first of these takes the form of a covered double height area (agora) and the second is an open courtyard. In architectural terms, the academy is a simple rectangle pierced by two double height openings, one forward facing towards the main entrance, the other offering a more private contemplative environment.
